Delivery Capability Improved Through System Integration

In order to optimize the warehouse processes, Bosch Petfood decided in 2009 to expand the existing production hall with an automated high-bay warehouse. As part of this project, the new building was equipped with pallet conveyor technology and the existing high-bay warehouse, which comprises 16,000 storage locations, was connected to the new complex by a conveyor system. For this purpose, virtually the entire product range of the System 500 from GEBHARDT-Fördertechnik was installed.

The System 500 includes chain conveyors, roller and chain lift tables, accumulation roller conveyors as well as turntables and vertical conveyors. Furthermore, a stacker crane for pallets, a live storage system and two driverless transport systems were added to the System 500.

Chain conveyors can be used to transport the load carriers from the high-bay warehouse, either individually or stacked, to the new picking hall, which has two levels. Depending on the intended use, a pallet can take two different directions.

Bosch Petfood is fully satisfied with the result and the performance of its new conveyor system. In order to continue to meet the growing demand, an expansion of the high-bay warehouse by 14,000 storage locations in three aisles and the connection to the conveyor technology by GEBHARDT Fördertechnik is already planned.
