INTEGRA Biosciences relies on GEBHARDT for future-proof logistics automation

INTEGRA Biosciences AG

INTEGRA Biosciences AG, a leading international manufacturer of laboratory equipment for liquid handling and media preparation, relies on the intralogistics expertise of the GEBHARDT Intralogistics Group.

At its headquarters in Zizers, Switzerland, a state-of-the-art automated logistics solution was implemented as part of a site expansion, consisting of an automatic high-bay warehouse (HRL) and an automatic small-parts warehouse (AKL). The goal: to automate production and logistics processes, leverage efficiency potential, and make production supply future-proof.

Future-Ready Automated Production Logistics

Growth and new logistics requirements

INTEGRA Biosciences is a global company in the life sciences sector. With subsidiaries and partners on five continents, the company supplies customers in the research, diagnostics, and quality control sectors.  In recent years, not only has the product portfolio grown, but production volume has also increased steadily. The existing manual logistics system was increasingly reaching its limits. In the course of expanding the Zizers site, it became clear that an automated solution was necessary to meet the growing demands on storage capacity, speed, and process reliability.

The GEBHARDT solution: Automation at the highest level

Automatic high-bay warehouse (HRL) for pallets

  • Storage and retrieval machine: GEBHARDT Cheetah Heavy
  • 1,572 pallet storage locations
  • Conveyor capacity: up to 150 pallets per hour

Automatic small parts warehouse (AKL) for containers

  • Storage and retrieval machine: GEBHARDT Cheetah Neo
  • 2,200container compartments
  • Throughput: up to 800 containers per hour

Conveyor technology

  • Systems 300, 500, and 700
  • Roller conveyors, accumulation roller conveyors, switches, transfer units, roller lift tables
  • Pick-by-light workstations with integrated scales and profile checks

Software & control

  • GEBHARDT StoreWare material flow computer
  • LVS light with visualisation
  • Direct SAP connection
Results: greater efficiency, transparency, and future-proofing

INTEGRA has achieved significant improvements with the new automated system:

  • Automated production and logistics supply
  • Significantly shorter throughput times in goods receipt and goods issue
  • High process reliability and traceability
  • Reduced manual intervention and lower error rates
  • Optimal use of available space
  • Ergonomic workstations thanks to goods-to-person picking

We are very satisfied with GEBHARDT. Not only do we have a reliable system in place, but we also have access to excellent service.

INTEGRA Biosciences is driving forward the automation of intralogistics in collaboration with GEBHARDT

INTEGRA Biosciences AG, a globally established provider of laboratory solutions for liquid handling and media preparation, is relying on the expertise of the GEBHARDT Intralogistics Group to further develop its logistics operations.
As part of the expansion of its facility in Zizers, Switzerland, a high-performance, automated logistics infrastructure was implemented. At the heart of the solution are an automated high-bay warehouse (HRL) and an automated small-parts warehouse (AKL). With this, INTEGRA aims to consistently automate processes in production and logistics, tap into efficiency reserves, and ensure a reliable and scalable material supply in the long term.
