GEBHARDT Intralogistics UK Hosts Charity Golf Tournament to Raise Money for a Nottinghamshire Hospice
Intralogistics solutions provider, GEBHARDT Intralogistics UK, recently hosted the Richard Lawes Memorial Golf Day to raise money for palliative care unit, Hayward House. They managed to raise £6000 for the charity.
The annual golf tournament took place on 19 July 2024 at the Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club in Nottingham. In total, 26 corporate teams signed up for the event to enjoy a day on the green and attempt to take home the trophy.
Now entering its third year, the Richard Lawes Memorial Golf Day was created to honour the memory of former GEBHARDT employee Richard Lawes, who passed away from a terminal illness in 2018. Richard was a keen golfer and had strong ties to Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club.
Hayward House is a specialist palliative care unit in the grounds of the Nottingham City Hospital. The staff at the hospice provide high quality care focused on the needs of patients and their families, from diagnosis up to end-of-life care.
Joanne Burr, Relationship & Events Team Leader for Hayward House, commented on the day ‘We are extremely grateful to everyone involved with the organisation of the golf day, and for choosing to raise funds for Hayward House once again. An incredible amount has been raised this year, which will make a huge difference to the patients, their families, and the staff at Hayward House. It was an honour to attend the event, and to meet everyone – thank you for all the support. Our corporate supporters raise a truly amazing amount of money each year, by organising their own events or taking part in our events – all to support our NHS hospitals in Nottingham’.
The hospice is currently running an appeal to improve their entrance and reception area, fund additional staff, and support vital palliative care research. You can learn more about the appeal here.
