GEBHARDT research project receives funding

Stuttgart - The Baden-Wuerttemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Employment and Housing is funding cooperative projects for the use of artificial intelligence in small and medium-sized companies with a total of 2.5 million euros as part of the "KI für KMU“ (AI for small and medium-sized enterprises) innovation competition. Today, Friday 10th January 2020, Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut announced the nine research projects selected by the Ministry.

The joint project of the GEBHARDT Fördertechnik GmbH, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, the flexlog GmbH and the Things Alive Robotics GmbH is one of these projects that will receive this funding.

The research project "AI-based control architecture for networked, flexible material flow systems" pursues the goal of using AI technologies to control a complex intralogistics system in order to optimize the production of batch size 1. The intralogistics system within the project consists of driverless robots on the floor and autonomous systems that form a grid-shaped transport network under the ceiling.
